1.Can't Miss What You Never Had
I went out walking and i caught myself talking
To a man who been knocking around bardo door
So i come home thinking that i ought not be missing
All those things that you e sending, well they ain't nothing new
to me
So i sitting here thinking about all that he saying
And i sure that you e wishing that i come around they way
But the bridges that you burned before, sliding out that back
door
And the things that you said were nothing new to me
You can't miss what you never had (x4)
When i was out walking, i found myself thinking on what
He was preaching seemed all fine to me.
But all those bridges that you e burning, are the ones you l be
wanting
But they won hear you talking, it nothing new to me
You can't miss what you never had
Well, i came back from walking, still found myself talking to
that man
He still knocking around bardo door
The things that he said before and all that you e wishing for
It easy to have been bought, still nothing new to me
When i came home from thinking about all that you e saying
Those things that you e seeking, you better look another way
Cause those bridges that you burned before, and things that you
e hoping for
Now they e haunting on your back door, it nothing new to me
2.Could Have Been A Song
This could have been a song about the wind
But my words were blown away
I could have sung about tomorrow
But i couldn't find today
Forget about writing down my conversations
'cause i can't think of what to say
With nothing left to sing about my ax in tune,
I got no choice but to sing to you
Chorus
Once won't you give me,
Twice won't you save me,
Three times won't you let me sing this song for you
I've been thinking about singing about a painting,
But the colors make me spin
Or the mystery of a spiral,
Where would i begin?
I could have sung about piety,
But i slammed right into sin
And now i've got a crowd around me,
What am i able to do?
I'll take this song and offer it to you
Might have sung about the ocean,
But i'm stuck here on the shore
How could i ever ask for seconds,
I couldn't take no more
I almost thought about a phone call,
But talking's such a bore
People left an hour ago,
The window's tainted blue ( so am i)
And i wrote this song
3.Flooding Both Of Us
As she lays downstairs in this sea of pain
I'm wondering why i lay here upstairs gone and afraid
She's hoping that i'll come downstairs to see her to bed
But tonight she's laying there crying sore-hearted instead
Chorus
Don't cry baby i'm coming home tonight
I've never been lost, just feeling so alone inside
I'm gonna take us away from this stressful life
We're running out tomorrow, we got all the time
So pick me up and show me you e so fine.
You can find love under this roof tonight
You can find love it not outta sight
To find one thing, you know it must have been lost
But love right here...flooding both of us
Here beside me lies the most perfect thing i know
Our hours together seem like the wind mighty blow.
We e looking to find all the answers that lie ahead
Lie on this quilt of so many dreams i e always said
The storm has settled by now, won you stay with me
The winds aren blowing, just a cool simple breeze
A gentle flood washes over us again
It the same old waters bringing us back to when
4.Haven't Seen For A While
As i lay here in bed, your smile fills my head
And i'm using this pen to talk to you, from a southern way.
It's been weeks since i've seen you last
Time away from you ain't movin too fast
Wishin my summer away, just to see you again
Chorus
I'm there by your side, looking in your eyes
Seeing you with me, what else could there be
If i could get away, i would be there today
You'd be wearing that smile, haven't seen for awhile
I wake up everyday, go through the same routine
Go to work, come home, what does it all really mean?
Check the mail just hoping to find,
Another note from you would ease my mind
It's 5:15 i can picture you driving home from your same old
scene,
In 5 you'll hear the phone ringing,
We'll have to settle for talking again
(chorus)
I can picture you now,
You're standing outside your house
The breeze is blowin' off the northern shore,
Now i'm loving you more
I long for the days when there's no goodbyes
Wish i could see you wipe the tears from your eyes
Tell you everything is allright,
Lay you down, say to you goodnight
5.Nobody Knows
Everybody's not the same, they got their own lives.
They can't guess how we read between the lines.
People around us just don't see our ways,
We just stick around each other through today.
Chorus
Nobody knows, the way we know,
Nobody knows where we go,
Nobody knows the way we are,
Nobody knows how we've come this far
They can't take the fighting all the time,
All their so-called love ain't worth a dime.
Fighting in the ring their's no one in their corner.
Round twelve is coming up, who'll be there for her?
(bridge)
Time will never play its games on us
It's the way we are that keeps us on the road
Who are the normal ones, there are too many like them.
Didn't they tell them to respect in the end.
Why don't they see their lies, they're not the ones for each
other.
Give it up, it's all but done.
6.Pride
It been said you should measure a man when he been kicked down.
Well this man knows the ways of life on the underground.
Now passing him by don you know won hurt his pride.
Now sympathy ain what he needs to heal his cries.
So load up on your intuition, it telling you right.
Don care about his situation, he l be eating good.
Chorus
Now things are looking up for him
Don forget me now old friend.
Got you through the hardest times.
I know you l be doin' fine.
It been said you should give your life for another man.
Well all right now your only chance we all understand.
Until you e walking in his shoes don be knocking?him down.
When you e looking over your shoulder he l be coming around.
So don put him though an interrogation, he got nothing?for you.
Let him walk on by in this so-call nation, he just passing.
7.Rebecca
Who's got all the answers to questions that rebecca has?
She's been cluelessly wonderin just how long she's been had.
She knows more than you or me, but she never thinks she's wrong
It seems the tables are turnin
She's found herself hurtin for oh so long
Does anybody out there want to help rebecca find the clue to
life?
I guess she's feels that she's the victim and we are the knife
There is a price you pay when you put on that face and roll the
dice
One day soon you'll realize the world ain't that nice
Chorus
Are you alright? are you ok?
Does anybody give a care around your way?
Will you be alright after we go?
Will you tell me someday cause i'll never know
Everybody knows that you can't read the writing on the wall so
don't come in
Even you and i know you can't and you won't want to start it all
over again
Why don't you just travel down that line, cause we don't have to
let you in
Well you seem to think you know it all, let me tell you
something - you can't win
(chorus)
Hey rebecca this is your pilot speaking and you're about to
land.
I hope you got all the answers and you've come to understand
That people and things are always going to change and you can't
stop them now.
But just one thing before you go, will you look back and let us
know.
8.Straight Curve
We e going down a straight curve, all along the while.
And people have you heard, all about the child.
Up above god asked you, won you hold it down
Feeling out way through, digging up the sound.
And the blanket of hope surrounds us, feeding our every thought.
Covering us from all the bad luck, want to never be caught.
Chorus
We can see the lightening now, blinding our eyes somehow.
We will do as we e told, standing by out very souls.
Wishing only what should not be, won somebody answer me
Out of sight, not out of time, soon we e running out of time.
We e going down a straight curve, thing never look the same.
Life seems so absurd, ain it time for a change.
The old ones for the new kind, you can leave the home.
It gonna get worse with time, but you e no longer alone.
And if the ball rolls off sand hill road, someone there to see
it down
'this cup half full' is the way we chose, the only way around.
We e going down a straight curve, trying not to lose out minds.
Holding on at every turn, never keeping between the lines.
Virginia always home to us, feeding out heads with hope.
We don think about it much, cause we know we l always know
If the time runs out on our show somehow, you l be there to turn
it back
So check your coat; you l be here for now, realizing what we
have.
9.The Story
The first time he saw her she was out among the crowds,
She was sitting at the table, pouring beer from a spout.
He catches her eye from across the bar,
He wouldn't even bring himself to go that far.
Chorus
What comes around goes around or so they say,
When will we meet on another day.
What comes around goes around don't they say,
This could have happened on any other day.
The next time he saw her she was dancing by his side,
The band was driving and they were along for the ride.
He bought her a beer and didn't think about why,
It was fateful night that they realized why.
Now he pulls up to her doorstep he can't believe his eyes, she's
Standing in the middle with his heart right inside.
And he tells her he loves her before they even tough,
It's been far too long though it don't seem that much.
She flies down to see him, and he's waiting at the gate,
They led seperate lives, could this have been fate?
She comes through the doorway, with bags in her hand,
Her eyes search the waiting crowds just to find her man.
10.Who Stole Her From Heaven
The voices out on the road tonight,
Are cutting through like a knife.
He's seeing, but he's not believing,
'cause without her, he's only grieving,
And he's asking...
Chorus
Who stole her from heaven?
And how much time has she got?
This girl goes to eleven,
How could you think she's not?
Angles from above have sent her,
To be with him and find him a cure.
For his life compass had been put away,
Now he can leave there for another day
And he's askin...
(chorus)
She's perfectly not perfect,
But that's exactly what he sees.
It's her that he loves and protects,
He's wondering if she's here to stay
And he's askin...
